Skin needling, also called microneedling, refers to Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) and Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI). A device with ultra-fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin that triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Results can include improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. At Enigma Medi Spa, we offer combined treatments, with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) or other vitamin-rich serum.
Microneedling has been used in Europe in various forms, from blocked stamps to hand rollers, for decades. Today automated pens have become standard, making the treatment faster, reliable, and generally quite comfortable.
THIS IS THE SOLUTION FOR SKIN-TYPES THAT TEND TO RESPOND POORLY TO HEAT/LIGHT BASED TREATMENTS (LASER, RF, IR AND ETC) OR FOR THOSE WITH ULTRA-SENSITIVE SKIN WHICH DOES NOT TOLERATE HYPERTHERMAL TREATMENTS WELL.
New medical studies comparing Microneedling with Fractional Erbium Laser: Comparison of Nonablative Fractional Erbium Laser 1,340 nm and Microneedling for the Treatment of Atrophic Acne Scars by Cachafeiro T and others, show amazing results:
“Both groups showed a significant improvement, and there was no statistically significant difference between results of both therapies. The erythema after each session was longer in the laser group and 13.6% subjects experienced Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). No PIH was observed in the microneedling group.
This study shows that both nonablative fractional laser 1,340 nm and microneedling are comparable and effective in the treatment of atrophic acne scars. Microneedling is well tolerated, with fewer side effects and lower down time.
Microneedling can be a successful tool for treatment of photoaged skin, wrinkle reduction, sagging skin, while tightening, building up collagen, shrinking the pores, restoring skin tone and allowing topical products to penetrate better and work more effectively…
